Minimalist – A person who lives an intentional life. One who values experiences over possessions.
“If you realize that you have enough, you are truly rich.” Tao Te Ching
I have been working on becoming more of a minimalist (realize its different for every person). I’ve spent the last year or so decluttering my possessions. I’ve either sold, donated or trashed many things that were cluttering my life. I still have plenty to do and its a constant on going project. It’s challenging but very rewarding. With every item that I set free I also set myself free. To walk into a room that is sparse is very enjoyable to me. It represents clarity, freedom and open space to breathe.
This past Thanksgiving holiday I decided to take a leap of faith and trust my instincts as I downsized from a 1400 sqft house to a 335 sqft guest house. I finally just settled into the guest house taking the past few months to purge many more possessions from my existence. The feeling is unbelievable. They say timing is everything, so I felt this was the time to make the move. I’m challenging myself as never before.
This is a journey and I’m excited to move on to the next chapter of my life, one with less stress over things and more experiences to enjoy.
