A New Coat Of Fresh Paint

thAt times a fresh coat of paint can bring in some new perspective.  Painting a room can have a dramatic effect on many facets from changing ones mood and outlook to increased energy and vitality. (depending on color and your mileage may vary)

A once red wine colored room is now being transformed to a clean new bright white.  The contrast between the two are startling but refreshing and alive.  The room is now beating with a different pulse and it feels really good.

The paint is a metaphor for the need to change our mindset and start a fresh path. Whatever you are struggling with can be dealt with easier when we start thinking differently.  When we start feeling instead of just reacting we engage our insides instead of focusing on the outside world.

When we fail at whatever we are doing, we need to keep in mind that we are actually learning from it and become wiser. Hence our biggest successes, and not so big ones, come from our perceived failures.

Without failure we wouldn’t be grateful for the successes in our lives.  We need the opposite to appreciate our life situation.  There’s no success like failure.

A few tips that have helped me with dealing with the learning process might help you as well

Always remember… It’s Only Stuff

Tip #1:  When I get frustrated and start feeling down I change my thinking as to what frustration means to me.  I re-programmed myself – whenever I feel frustrated I start thinking that I’m about to make a break-thru.  Frustration now means break-thru’s in my mind.  I changed the association with the feeling.  It takes practice but it works.

Tip #2:  Be patient.  Sometimes a little patience can go along way.  I know we live in a society where we need instant gratification, however we need to learn to unplug.  Slow down and take a few deep breaths.  Take a walk in nature if you can.  Even a 5 minute walk where you can absorb nature’s energy will help immensely.

Tip #3:  When dealing with people try and keep in mind that they are also going through life stuff just like we are.  Let’s try and be nice to our fellow human being.  It will come back to you in waves. Don’t underestimate the power of positive human energy.

Keep plugging along and keep in mind that failure is only in our minds.  Change your association with failure and link it to success.
